The Road to Oracle ECM 11g Certified Implementation Specialist

Hi folks,

I’m writing just to give you my feedback about the Oracle Enterprise Content Management 11g certification exam.
Well, what I can say is that not too easy even if you work with Oracle UCM for a couple years.
My study planning guide to give this certification was the following:

Just follow the labs given in Oracle trainings & workshops about UCM.

About the exam, it covers all ECM Suite stack, UCM, URM, IRM, IBR, ODC & ODDC, OFR, I/PM and so on…
So be prepared to answer questions like What metadata are added when we install SiteStudio module on Content Server?
Which application integrations come out-of-the-box with ECM
What are the predefined Security Groups by default on UCM ?
A total of 69 questions to be answered in 2 hours.
My advice is: Be prepared!

Active Directory wasn’t working if I changed the user from OU (Organizational Unit)

Hi folks…I’m back with a quick tip.

There was a trouble with a customers UCM 10g environment.
The UCM 10g is integrated with Microsoft’s Active Directory but one little problem occurs if I change on euser from his OU (Organizational Unit) to another OU (Organizational Unit).
The UCM losses the reference from AD and the user loses access to UCM. The workaround was to delete the user from UCM everytime I changed them from OU.
This is exactly what UCM does: It caches that information internally. Store the users DN in the database so that UCM don’t have to look it up everytime. Going into the User Admin Applet and physically deleting the user, removes him from the Users table in the database and forces a dump of the cache.

If you are using an LDAP provider, there is a solution to change this behavior:

Just add to config.cfg the following line:

RetryDefaultUserProvider=true

This variable will force a new check of the user in every login.

Uma demanda surgiu num cliente porque detectamos um bug na tradução para pt-BR dos Applets de Administração do URM.

Dois botões tinham o mesmo texto….conforme pode se ver na figura abaixo:

note que na versão em inglês (en-US) isso não acontece:

Seguem abaixo os passos para se fazer essa tradução.

Entre no diretório: /oracle/Middleware/Oracle_ECM1/ucm/idc/components/Localization/lang/pt-BR

e abra o arquivo ap_strings.xlf

Integer: -231 to 231 (-2 billion to +2 billion). By definition, an integer is a natural number, so decimal values and commas are not permitted.

Integração com o AD – Quick TIP

Um cliente fez a integração do AD (Active Directory) com o UCM (rodando em cima do Apache).

Até aí tudo bem, mas esqueceu de algumas coisinhas…

Como por exemplo mapear no Role Prefix o seu Domain Controler (DC).

Outro “mistake” foi cadastrar como CN (Container) ao invés de OU (Organizational Unit) aonde ficariam os Grupos do AD relacionados as Roles do UCM.

Isso estava afetando o refresh automático de usuários quando eles mudavam de Grupo (AD) ou Role (UCM).

A configuração correta segue abaixo:

Contribution Folders – Use com moderação!

As famosas “Contribution Folders“….peraí….você disse : Folders, right?

Sim…”Folders“..ou “Pastas”…mas não é bem o que você está pensando…

Muita gente se confunde com elas…mas também pudera…não é todo mundo que é Consultor UCM e conhece a fundo a solução.

As Contribution Folders se parecem com os diretórios ou pastas do seu desktop, veja bem…eu disse que se “parecem”….mas elas definitivamente não são “a mesma coisa”.

Contribution Folders é um nome bonitinho para um ponto de acesso WebDAV. Ele permite que você faça drag-n-drop de arquivos diretamente para o Content Server através do Desktop Integration.

Só que o Content Server não é igual ao Filesystem do seu computador…é um sistema de gerenciamento de conteúdo baseado em metadados, ok? (Content Server 101  =p)

Então…as Contribution Folders são “Pastas Virtuais”. Elas não existem fisicamente!!! Se você for olhar no seu Filesystem, elas não estarão lá. A Contribution Folder é apenas um metadado a mais, associado a um determinado arquivo, com algumas peculiaridades.

• Você não pode ter mais de uma Folder atribuída a um arquivo.
• Os items dentro de uma Folder devem ter nomes únicos. Se você tentar arrastar um arquivo para uma Folder, que já contenha um arquivo com aquele mesmo nome, esse item se tornará uma revisão do arquivo existente.
• Arquivos podem ser “deletados” da Folder, ou seja, eles são movidos para a Lixeira. Entretanto, eles continuam aparecendo nas Buscas, por exemplo. Para remover o item completamente, vá até a lixeira e apague o arquivo.
• Cada Folder torna a performance do Content Server mais lenta. Há um limite default de 1000 Folders, se você ultrapassar este limite…bem…não diga que eu não avisei, rs.
• Não há uma maneira de controlar o ID das Folders (É sequencial e o próprio Content Server se encarrega disso). Quando você fizer uma migração, por exemplo, não crie as Folders na sua nova instância, porque senão, fatalmente você vai criá-las com ID’s diferentes e na hora de migrar os arquivos de uma instância antiga para uma nova, vai dar probleminha…Eu falo um pouco mais sobre isso em meu post sobre Migração do Content Server (http://andrealmar.wordpress.com/2009/08/11/ucm-tutorial-de-migracao/).
